The Inspiration for the Mood Elevator

The Mood Elevator, our immersive project using light, color, and sound to elevate your moods, finds its roots deeply embedded in art. One of the inspirations behind The Mood Elevator is the book Bright Earth: The Invention of Color by Philip Ball. It’s an excellent read for anyone curious about the history and origins of color and the transition from pigment to art.

A fascinating section of the book discusses George Seurat and his awareness of subtractive mixing—placing dots of color next to each other so your eye perceives them as a mixed color, creating a more luminous effect. With the advantage of LED light, we can view this luminosity and explore new horizons with RGB colors, enhancing both art and the science of mood elevation.
